30th June 2024
At the end of June, on a warm Sunday afternoon, Fifield held its first Fête for several years combined
with an ‘Open Cottage Gardens’ event. The sun made an appearance along with lots of visitors from
Fifield (current and past residents) and from further afield. Nine gardens were open with the
owners putting on a fabulous show and enjoying talking to fellow horticulturists about their gardens
and the trials and tribulations of keeping them looking beautiful.
Down on the Recreation Ground, there was a selection of stalls including the extremely popular
‘Wine or Whinge’, Plants, Home Produce, a bouncy castle and lots of children’s games. Artisan
crafts, jewellery and ice cream were also on offer. One of the star attractions was the very tempting
Teas Tent offering not only an amazing selection of cakes, but a large choice of teas as well! The
raffle rounded off the day with many gorgeous prizes being won by both Fifielders and visitors from
the Wychwoods alike.
The whole afternoon was a resounding success and, judging by the comments from all, was
thoroughly enjoyed by young and old.
