On a rainy 7th June, keen bug hotel builders gathered at the beautiful church of St John the Baptist in Fifield. The event was a collaboration between the church and Green Fifield, our village environmental community action group, and was supported by Climate Action Oxfordshire and Oxford County Council as part of The Great Big Green week (www.greatbiggreenweek.com).
The purpose of the event was to construct and fill a wooden Bug Hotel, donated by Green Fifield, which will be installed in the new multi-generational community space and play area on the recreation ground.
The children made wonderful homes for spiders, bugs, ladybirds, beetles, bees and birds nests, whilst talking about where bugs live, what we have to do to protect them and what sorts of creatures might like to live in our new Bug Hotel.

Nature related crafts, stories and painting of creepy crawlies and birds, accompanied by refreshments made for a lovely morning.

Many thanks to all who joined in and thanks to the church for their collaboration and hosting. We look forward to the final installation of the Bug Hotel on the rec soon.
